Trying Times

The PLP party line has always been that a successful conviction was made at BHC and the island should move on. That’s no longer quite true. The Appeals Court overturned Terrence Smith’s conviction today over irregularities in the trial. The case will now have to start again in court.

Truth is that we should start the whole BHC investigation again with an external commission free from all the political interference and escapades we’ve been going through!

So far, the BHC losses have been conservatively estimated at $8 million. You can now add $500,00 to that (being the cost of the first Terrence Smith trial), Government’s huge court fees over the failed gag orders, and the ensuing massive Police witch hunt.

And how do you quantify the damage to Bermuda’s integrity?  The damage to our community caused by the overheated politics used to distract attention from the fact that huge sums of public moneyare being stolen or squandered?

Reform, reform, reform!
