A Toyota is a Toyota, no matter where no buy it. The base cost is the same.
That’s why when you enter a car sales lot in the US, the last thing the salesman wants to talk about is the price of that Toyota.
He will take you for a test drive so you can imagine yourself owning the car. He will get you talking about yourself and why you want it. He will buffet you with possible options and add-ons, servicing plans, and various financing packages. Shucks, he’s your best darn friend!
He will do everything he can to engage you in the process before he starts talking about the price. By hooking you on the deal, he knows that you are more likely to swallow the eventual price without rational analysis.
And that’s what Dr. Brown is doing with the Club Med real estate development. He’s tantalizing Bermuda with a major development in the East End, and sucking us into the process. But we have not yet talked about the money.
And at the end of the day, that’s what matters most.
