In the Senate this morning, the Club Med Act was approved. However it was agreed that the lease could be tabled in the House of Assembly and the Senate — not for debate as the UBP had requested, but for public information. The timeframe when that will happen is unknown.
It’s clear that a compromise has been struck - but it’s a lousy one. Essentially our Legislature has approved one of the largest real estate developments in Bermuda history without knowledge of the economics of the deal.
That’s PATI Bermuda style: let the public know about it, after it’s too late to be useful.
