As I commented back in March, the Corporation of Hamilton are doing themselves no favours.
The PLP has made clear its desire to absorb the Municipal corporations into the central Government. At the same time, both the Hamilton ratepayers and many locals have criticised the Corporation for its lack of transparency.
But rather than engage in proactive reform, we’ve been treated to a running public display of dysfunction, illwill, and poor oversight … culminating in the latest news that 4 aldermen have resigned or been forced out, leaving the Corporation barely able to maintain a quorum.
They are simply reinforcing the idea that the Corporation is secretive and outdated. Unless they publicly take the lead on reform, someone else will, and eventually the C of H will have their proverbial handed to them on a platter.
