Playing Fields

May 5th, 2008 · No Comments · Bermuda Politics

With the urbanisation of Bermuda, we need more public spaces for children to play and people to exercise and build community.

These rejuvenated playing fields are very welcomed. I’d like to see Government expand the land that is dedicated to public use, either through acquisitions to the Park system, improvement of existing Government land, or investment in the National Trust land bank.

And because I am me, I can’t help but point out that Government’s travel budget has grown by 300% since the PLP took over, with a mighty hike since Dr. Brown started commuting took office. That’s more than $5 million extra a year – and I argue that much of that expenditure has little benefit to the taxpayer.

Just imagine if those dollars had been spent on community projects like the playing fields!  Every ounce of Government bloat is money taken out of your pocket.
