Doctor Brown has opened Bermuda’s 2,600 square foot London office. In the swingin’ West End baby! According to the press, the office rent is $800,000 a year and will have a staff of up-to-six on top of that.
The goal is to have a “more efficient interface with the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office” which I think is Ewartspeak for “act like an independent nation”.
A reader points out how it will probably actually work:
“The FCO calls Government House in Bermuda, who then call the London Bermuda Office, who then call the Bermuda Cabinet Office … who then call the London Bermuda Office, who then call Government House in Bermuda, who then call the FCO in London.”
I laugh. Until I realise that he’s probably right.
For this pricetag, you could fly the entire UK Parliament here to feel the love personally! And call it a tourism success story!
