Vexed Bermoothes

I heard on the radio the other morning that the Bermuda Police have hired 100 recruits from the Caribbean to boost our local force. Given the high cost of living here, Bermuda has had difficulty recruiting overseas police in recent years so a decision was made to recruit overseas civilians for training here. Notably, more than two-thirds of these new recruits have no previous policing experience.

I wish them well. We desperately need more Police on the street here.

But wow, I hope they have thought this through as the assimilation and training will be remarkably tricky. In one go, 20% of the Force will be new to Bermuda, and 15% of the Force will be new to policing.
