Dr. Brown loves to scare voters and little children with stern warnings about going back to the plantation and the bogeyman of the Forty Thieves.
It says a lot about the erosion of the PLP’s political capital that the best finale they can come up with for their hot new ads is a vignette of a child saying “if I’m gonna have a future, we’ve got to keep the PLP in power”.
Whimper. Come on Dr. Brown, please save the little boy!
Come on, that’s the best you’ve got?! The PLP have been in for 10 years – three separate administrations – and have quickly shed the progressive mantle for that of the cosy establishment. The PLP today is a profligate oligarchy. And that’s being kind.
A change in Government would be good for Bermuda. It would hasten reform. It would make the Government work for the people again. It would mean that little boy wouldn’t have to spend the rest of his life paying for Dr. Brown’s glory.
I do not believe in political dynasties – they breed complacency and unaccountability. Most democratic countries see a natural and healthy rotation of power every few electoral cycles, why should Bermuda be different?
