A reader points out that the PLP’s media announcements have started using gambling slang.
“The reports of Elbow Beach’s demise were greatly exaggerated. Elbow Beach is doubling down on Bermuda with a multi-million dollar investment in the upgrade of 98 cottages across the property. The upgrades are pure platinum and are sure to attract the discerning tourist.”
Doubling down is a term from blackjack. You have to wonder, despite the widespread political and public resistance to casinos, who in the inner circle is so desperate to make it happen?
(And psst, a couple of million dollars doesn’t go far across 98 cottages).
