Cost per Visitor

December 23rd, 2008 · No Comments · Tourism

Last week Dr. Brown announced that Bermuda’s arrivals from New York were up by 1,200 visitors for the quarter due to initiatives like the $500,000 sponsorship of the New York Mets.  I look forward to seeing some detailed statistics on tourism in Bermuda at the end of the year so that we can properly assess the success of the Ministry of Tourism’s marketing efforts.

Some points of comparison on what other tourism destinations spent on marketing per tourist in 2007:

  • Bahamas $13
  • Barbados $22
  • Hawaii $9
  • Jamaica $14

In 2007, it was claimed by the UBP that the Bermuda Government spent $63 on marketing per non-cruise visitor (or $33 if cruisers were included).

Wonder where that figure is now?
