The Royal Gazette has published more information on some of the shortcuts and shortcomings of the courthouse project, confirming some of the rumours that have been flying around this gossipy little community.
I predict that the tangled veil over this project will continue to haunt Bermuda, like its predecessor at Berkeley.
It’s silly because, if the rules were followed, this project would be labelled a success for the PLP. As it stands, it may leave a murky legacy.
What’s interesting is that there has been no pushback from the PLP … and they normally fall over themselves with anger and denial during events like this.
The web meme of “Six degrees of Separation” refers to the theory that, if a person is one step away from each person they know and two steps away from each person who is known by one of the people they know, then everyone is at most six steps away from any other person on Earth.
Today’s news claims that the steel is being erected by a sub-contractor partly owned by the Fire Chief. The Minister of Works recently complained that some new buildings in Hamilton could not be served by our existing fire infrastructure and might require additional taxes. Now we find that the head of the fire service may have a hand in erecting some of those new buildings!
I can’t figure out how many degrees of separation exist in Bermuda!
