The Queen is in Bermuda this week and has been met with large and cheerful crowds at the various public functions. I suspect that this outpouring of love is partly driven by the Queen’s history and dignity – but also a response to the current leadership’s resentful efforts to rewrite Bermuda’s history.
The coverage of Bermuda and the visit in the international press has been huge. Now that’s pop and sizzle!
Ordinarily the PLP website jumps for joy whenever there’s a smiley photo op of the Premier meeting a pop star or diplomat.
Humorously, the spin machine has been silent about this whole visit. As if it never happened. Like a bad dream.
(Update: they’ve now posted the Premier’s toast at the Dinner. I have to wonder if he choked a little saying “this small slice of Britain called Bermuda.”
