Yesterday, Premier Paula Cox said that the Island’s “economic recovery has begun”.
Yesterday, Government released economic figures that showed local business revenues were down 7-8% year on year for the latest quarter.
Which do you believe, the statistician or the politician?
In the sea of shifting rumors, the current thinking is that we are looking at an autumn election (the theory being that it’s better to get it out of the way before the budget, when the actual numbers will be laid bare). So, in the absence of any positive economic news, they need to dream it up. To manufacture it from whole green cloth, as it were.
My observation from her recent public appearances is that the Premier looks embattled, weary, and depressed. That pretty much sums up Bermuda these days too.
We are Feeling the Love as we are Standing Strong, Solid as a Rock as the Gold Standard in the Platinum Period, right? All just empty politicians’ words.
