So Paula Cox has been dropping hints that she might be Premier soon. I am underwhelmed for several reasons:
- The grotesque growth in Bermuda’s budgets – nearly doubling in just a few years with little to show for it – happened under her watch. She has stood mute and/or powerless during the monetary and managerial excesses.
- Every few years, as Bermuda’s population starts to realise the current PLP team ain’t cutting it, the party shifts leaders and kicks off a new honeymoon period. “This time it will be different.” But, if anything, the ship seems to get more aimless and mismanaged with each leadership.
The question I ask is: Minister Cox, what will you do differently? How will you fix the malpractice of leadership that has been wrought on Bermuda? Why should I support you?
