It is plain that there is more public support for protecting Warwick Long Bay than for allowing development of the natural area … as was the case with Southlands and the Botanical Gardens, which also were threatened by inappropriate Ministerial overrides to allow development. If allowed, this project will the source of growing public protest.
The Premier scoffs that environmentalists are enraged by the site of concrete. The answer is that the public wants to keep concrete in its place – and that place is not in our few remaining open spaces! The Parks Act is designed specifically to protect these areas!
