A large crowd despite the weather. Very calm and respectful – but forcefully stating that it’s time to have an accountable Government. Lots of politicians popping out to the balcony to assess the crowd. Even if the motion against Dr. Brown fails, I hope they heard the message: enough of this constant circus!
As the protest ended and the crowd started to turn away, Dr. Brown strode out the South door of the House surrounded by 11 Police and was ushered through the crowd and around the building to go to his habitual backroom at Greg’s Steakhouse.
Now, there are a bunch of doors to the House. Why did he choose that one? I suspect it was stage managed to try and lure catcalls from the crowd (the whole martyr thing) or to allow pictures of him ignoring the crowd (the whole heroic thing). Either that or he needed Greg’s finest martini in a big rush.
This illustrates the problem that we as a community face. The people want clear Rule of Law. The demands are straightforward. But we are faced with someone who views it all as a game of political chess, towards his own personal mysterious endgames, which he views as superior to any Rule of Law. We’re reading Robert’s Rules, while he’s deep into the Art of War and The Prince.
I don’t think he needed the security in any case. This was a movement of citizens, not an angry mob, no matter what emotional heartstrings Thaao may tug.
