Vexed Bermoothes

I really have to laugh at Dr. Brown’s outraged quacking over the audit report damning his $15 million steel shed at TCD.

The pattern is so predictable:

1. Avoid addressing any of the substantive points
2. Blame the messenger
3. Hint at a hidden motive, paranoid conspiracy
4. Make a link to the “combined opposition” media

Normally the pattern includes a few extra steps so we’ll see how this unfolds:

1. Cause another controversy to deflect attention (aka the constant circus)
2. Travel somewhere distant and remain incommunicado until the dust settles
3. Continue business as usual, ka-ching!

It’s interesting how quickly the conversation has escalated from “sloppy mismanagement” to “allegations of criminality.”

The Bermuda Government has paid big money … your money … to buff and position Dr. Brown as a successful and popular leader.

But spin is spin.  And facts are facts.  And the fact is, there have been repeated complaints at the highest levels of the civil service and its independent watchdogs regarding “political interference” from Dr. Brown.  There have been repeated failings and irregularities amounting to tens of millions of dollars in projects directly under Dr. Brown’s oversight.   His popularity is amongst the lowest ever recorded for a Premier in local public opinion polls … and has lingered there for years.

In my opinion, the guy’s been a disaster for Bermuda.
