Can we please stop pretending that that the Tucker’s Point SDO is about saving tourism? It’s about developing real estate. It is about a very lucrative expansion of the Tucker’s Town enclave.
There has been a drought of information to justify abandoning the various conservation protections on the land.
Government today released a map of a “compromise” where some land will be excluded from the controversial SDO. But confusingly, it omits the land that would still be developed.
So here are the two plans together, along with a Bernews link to a more detailed plan of the building sites.
A hotel expansion is not part of the new SDO. Here’s my prediction: this won’t be the last SDO (or request for a major variance in another form) from Tucker’s Point.
