The Senate rubberstamped the Bermuda Bar Amendment Act today.
It says something about Bermuda that a law that regulates a “trusted advisor” role is weakened … against the advice of the “trusted advisors” it is intended to govern!
It also says something that this law was given priority of passage through Parliament, when it currently only benefits one person.
The role of the Senate is to act as a “corrector” for the House of Assembly. This clearly was a case that the Senate should have stepped forward, and they failed to do so.
(And of course, there are no public agendas or transcripts of the Senate, so we’ll never really know if they took their jobs seriously.)
Tssk tssk Bermuda.
